Most emerging designers price by guesswork.

You look at what similar brands charge, pick a number, decide that feels right, and hope the costs work out. Usually they don't, and you find out after the fabric is bought and the factory is paid.

The gaps are almost always the same: fabric waste nobody accounted for, sample pricing mistaken for production pricing, pattern and sample costs that never made it onto the sheet, and a direct-to-consumer margin that looks healthy until shipping, payment fees, and returns come out.

In 90 minutes, you'll close those gaps on a real style of your own.

What you'll leave with

  • Your true landed cost. Materials with waste, labor, development spread across your run, plus freight and duty: every cost the garment really carries.
  • A price that hits your margin. Wholesale and retail prices set against a margin target you chose on purpose, not one you hoped for.
  • Your cost ceiling. The most your style can cost at your price. Walk into your factory and supplier conversations knowing your number.
  • Your real DTC margin. What you actually keep from a direct sale once payment fees, fulfillment and returns are taken out.
  • Margin vs. markup, finally clear. Why a 55% margin is a 2.22x markup, what keystone means, and why mixing them up quietly costs you money.
  • Your two next moves. If your style is below target, you'll leave knowing which levers to pull first, and when a style shouldn't go into production at all.

No factory quotes yet? Come anyway.

Most designers haven't priced labor yet. You'll use realistic estimates, flag what still needs confirming, and work backward from the price your customer will pay to find what you can afford to spend.

That way your first factory conversation starts with your number, not theirs.

This is for you if

  • You have a style in development or heading into first production
  • You've set prices before and aren't sure they make money
  • You want to talk to factories and suppliers with confidence
  • You're planning to wholesale, sell direct, or both

It's not for you if

  • You're still at the idea stage with no style designed yet
  • You're looking for a full business plan or funding strategy
  • You'd rather watch a lecture than work on your own numbers

As an independent designer, she sold her own swim collection to Victoria's Secret and delivered it because she documented costs down to the trim.

Today she helps designers go from concept to production-ready without wasting thousands learning manufacturing the hard way.
